Psychoeducational Assessment Toronto:

CAPD & ADHD Testing for Children & Adults

The Chesnie Cooper Education and Remediation Centre (CCERC) has made a science of learning how to learn. Our Toronto developmental testing program uses an array of psychological, educational, and vocational tests to measure the student's current status. If there is a learning problem we will determine its origin and work to fix it. Knowing exactly what the learner requires makes development of a learning strategy possible.

Included in Dr. Chesnie Cooper's standard testing, beyond the in-depth developmental history, is a unique, extensive battery of the latest testing tools that tease out any evidence that a student might be manifesting AD/HD (Attention Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder), CAPD (Central Auditory Processing Deficit) or heightened anxiety. This is critical, as the symptoms are quite similar but the treatments are not.

The Psychoeducational Assessment (child to adult)

This Assessment involves a procedure that is similar to a consultation with a medical doctor. It is comprised of:

  • Examining reports from other professionals
  • Taking a history
  • Making observations
  • Differential diagnoses (there can be alternative theories that have to be further investigated)
  • Testing
  • Social/Emotional and Personality testing if required
  • Interpretation
  • Follow-through

At Chesnie Cooper Education and Remediation Centre our Assessments contain an analysis of the results of the multiple tests, and an accurate, thorough, diagnosis, that will be properly understood by parents and professionals. Numerical scores reveal the student's strengths as well as weaknesses in learning and academics, leading clearly to the next step - the follow through.

Psychovocational / Educational Assessment (adolescent-adult)

This testing is administered to high school students who are attempting to determine their interests and aptitudes in order to plan their education and career goals. Along with the Assessment, counseling is given to these individuals. For adults, this test will assist those who are looking for a career change, and need to determine and identify their skills and abilities.
